Round 9 - Suzuka

Tonight marks Round 15 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

It is time for the season finale, and where better to bring all of the action to a close than the infamous Suzuka circuit? Located in the Mie Prefecture of Japan, this track is best known visually for its iconic figure of eight layout which sees its back straight pass over the midpoint of the lap. Within its 3.6 mile length is an awe-inspiring array of 17 corners, many of which are household names. Whether it be the tricky “First Turn”; the hard-fitting “Degners”; or the confidence challenging “130R”, there will be plenty to watch out for lap after lap as our drivers take on the track that has been the crown jewel of many a motorsport champion!

In the Gold class, with a double-podium last week at Silverstone, Thomas Cope has secured the championship. Now attention turns to the battle for the runner up spot with Philipp Hammer holding an 18 point advantage over Patrik Thomsen. Hammer is undoubtedly the favourite to take second, but with Thomsen eager to make it a championship one-two for Olympus eSports Vanguard, he will not be taking anything for granted!

In the Silver class, eight points separate championship leader Chris Eddisford; Jeremy De Boever; and Adam Greveson, in a battle that is finely poised. All three drivers have had phenomenal performances throughout the season with Eddisford’s and Greveson’s late charges in the second half of the season contrasting with De Boever’s once runaway lead in the first half. However, who will take the final step and claim the ultimate prize?

Who shall end their season on a high? Tune in and find out!

Round 8 - Silverstone

Tonight marks Rounds 13 & 14 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

In this pair of rounds we take a trip back in time to 2008 and visit the UK for the legacy layout of the high-speed high-downforce Silverstone circuit. Widely regarded as the “Home of British Motor Racing”, what was once the site of a Royal Air Force airfield has rapidly become an annual host of many major annual motorsport series including Formula One; British GT and MotoGP. With its wide road surface; numerous straights; and sweeping corners, we can expect battles to run from lights out to chequered flag as our drivers are encouraged to push their machines to the absolute limit!

In the Gold class, with drop scores now in effect, a challenging day in Canada has seen championship leader Thomas Cope’s lead over rival Philipp Hammer reduced slightly to 48 points. Still, Cope could secure the championship tonight if results go his way. However, with Hammer on form and the pace of many top five contenders such as Igor Kos; Danny Lee; and Patrik Thomsen looking ferocious, Cope will know to take nothing for granted!

In the Silver class, a determined drive from Chris Eddisford last week has seen him close the gap down championship leader Jeremy de Boever to 13 points. Yet, due to his phenomenal performances in the first half of the season, de Boever still holds a clear advantage over Eddisford. For Eddisford only back-to-back victories will do tonight, but with so many of his peers eager for their own taste of glory, will he be able to pull off this difficult feat?

How will our drivers get on in our final Sprint & Feature combination of the season? Tune in and find out!

Our schedule is as follows: 19:45 Broadcast Starts 20:00 Qualifying (8 minutes) 20:10 Sprint Race (12 minutes) 20:30 Feature Race (30 minutes)

Round 7 - Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Tonight marks Rounds 11 & 12 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

As the season charges into its final third, in this pair of rounds we head to Canada for Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Infamous for its “Wall of Champions” which awaits our drivers on the exit of the final chicane, this circuit blends together numerous chicanes; extended straights; and close walls to create a heart-pounding 2.71 mile lap. With the smallest of mistakes potentially being race ending, our drivers shall need to find the right balance between risk and reward should they wish to come out on top and enshrine their names into history books alike the hometown Formula One hero after whom the circuit is named!

In the Gold class, whilst it was a missed opportunity for back-to-back wins at Road America last week, championship leader Thomas Cope was still able to further extend his lead over Philipp Hammer with a double-podium. 53 points now separate the pair, and with rounds running out, another strong performance tonight could provide Cope with the opportunity to wrap-up the championship in a week’s time at Silverstone!

In the Silver class, in securing his first two wins of the season last week, Chris Eddisford has reduced the gap to championship leader Jeremy De Boever to 23 points. With championship momentum ebbing and flowing between the pair from week to week, could we expect De Boever to strike back tonight and return to the top step? Or can Eddisford further his pursuit and put the championship on level ground with three rounds to go?

Who shall have nerves of steel to run close to the walls in Montreal? Tune in and find out!

Round 6 - Road America

onight marks Rounds 9 & 10 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

For this pair of rounds our drivers return to the United States of America for the final time this season to take on Road America. Opened in 1955, the Wisconsin state circuit is a classic for road racing with its 14 corner layout having seen minimal change over its 67 year history. At its core is a straight-forward mix of extended straights and tight corner sequences which make top speed and braking potential the key factors to success. As a result, we can expect plenty of hard-fought battles under braking here as our competitors aim to outrun each other in the charge to the next corner!

In the Gold class, despite the intense pressure placed on him by defending champion Philipp Hammer at Jerez last week, Thomas Cope was able to hold on for victory. Whilst his championship lead now stands at 45 points over Hammer, Cope’s will certainly be taking nothing for granted tonight as he looks to maintain his lead one round at a time. Question is, can Hammer find a way to break through the indomitable spirit of Cope?

In the Silver class, a smooth drive to a second Endurance round victory last week has seen Jeremy De Boever extend his advantage to 50 points over rising challenger Chris Eddisford. However, De Boever will be wary of the risks of falling back into the chasing pack, especially given only seven points separates Eddisford; Adam Greveson; and Steve Hobbs, and many other drivers are starting to find their form including Chris Rance and Alex Hiscox!

Who shall make the picturesque countryside of Elkhart Lake roar to the tune of victory? Tune in and find out!

Round 5 - Jerez

onight marks Round 8 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

In this round the paddock heads to Spain for the Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto for the second Endurance Race round of the season. Named after the country’s legendary motorcyclist, the 2.74 mile course is packed with a contrasting combination of sweeping corners and harsh hairpins making the track highly technical in nature. To do well here our drivers shall need to master the art of the late apex as otherwise they shall find themselves vulnerable to overtakes. Moreover, with battles expected to run from corner-to-corner, we can expect rivalries to intensify under the sultry Spanish sunshine!

In the Gold class, with championship leader Thomas Cope absent last week, the gap to the top has closed to 30 points with Dan Sedgley leading the chase in second place. Yet, with Sedgley only five and seven points ahead of a resurgent Philipp Hammer and an in-form Patrik Thomsen respectively, can Cope use this to his advantage to re-open his lead? Or will we see the battle for second place take centre stage tonight?

In the Silver class, despite being slightly off-pace at VIR, Jeremy De Boever has extended his lead to 29 points over Adam Greveson. Meanwhile, Greveson’s mixed fortunes last week were in stark contrast to those of his FR20 Sim Racing teammate Steve Hobbs who delivered a double-podium moving him into third, only two points behind Greveson. Could we see Hobbs leap ahead of Greveson? Or will Greveson reestablish his pursuit of De Boever?

How will our drivers get on in tackling the technical test of Jerez? Tune in and find out!

Round 4 - VIR

Tonight marks Rounds 6 & 7 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

We return from the mid-season break with this pair of rounds seeing our drivers take on the American circuit of Virginia International Raceway. More commonly referred to as “VIR”, the Full Course layout of the track shall place host to our drivers. With its 17 fast-flowing corners as broken up into three unique and highly complex corner sequences, the focus shall be on our drivers’ consistency with even the smallest of mistakes potentially race ending. Moreover, with overtaking opportunities centred on the course’s two extended straights, exit speed come the conclusion of a given corner sequence shall be top priority!

In the Gold class, whilst his initial run of wins may have come to a halt last time out at Watkins Glen, Thomas Cope’s charge at the top of the field has not. Now leading by 50 points over Dan Sedgley, Cope has set a hard target for his rivals to chase down. However, given the mid-season break and Cope’s expected absence tonight, could we see some of his rivals gain ground? Or will Cope’s lead continue to stand strong?

In the Silver class, despite his absence in the previous pair of rounds, Jeremy De Boever continues to lead by 14 points over the chasing pack as headed by Adam Greveson. De Boever will undoubtedly be refreshed and ready to extend his advantage tonight, but watch out for Greveson who will be eager to further close the gap following an unfortunate day of racing at Watkins Glen!

As we return to the racing action tonight, who shall resume their championship campaign in fine form? Tune in and find out!

Round 4 - Virginia International Raceway

Tonight marks Round 4 of the eleventh season of UKSimRacing’s GT3 League as hosted on iRacing!

In this round our drivers head to the United States of America for the Virginia International Raceway. Abbreviated to “VIR”, the Virginia state circuit is a regular host of the IMSA SportsCar Championship and GT World Challenge America with its fast-flowing 17-corner “Full Course” layout awaiting the grid. Featuring rapid–fire elevation changes; numerous blind apexes; and the classic “Oak Tree” hairpin which precedes the back-straight, the track shall undoubtedly push our drivers to the limit prior to the mid-season break!

In the ELITE class, Erik Røseth continues to lead by a steady margin of 14 points over close rival Rhys Saunders. However, with Saunders taking his first victory at MotorLand Aragón and eager for more, could we start to see the points gap between the two close? Or will Røseth be able to maintain his advantage going into the break?

In the PRO class, Aaron Macgregor’s advantage has increased to 12 points despite him finishing just off of the podium last week. Darren Sharples heads up the chasing pack, but with the pace so close between drivers, can anyone find a way to break clear and become the number one contender to hunt down Macgregor?

In the AM class, in securing his first win of the season last round, Jack Whyborn has taken the lead by 12 points over Steiner Sanni. Sanni will be determined to show his difficulties in qualifying at Aragón were just a blip tonight. Also watch out for Neal Smith who sits a further six points behind and is still chasing his first win!

Who shall go into the mid-season break with momentum on their side? Tune in and find out!

Round 3 - Watkins Glen

Tonight marks Rounds 4 & 5 of Season 7 of UKSimRacing’s Porsche Cup as hosted on iRacing!

In this pair of rounds the paddock returns to the United States of America for Watkins Glen International. Located in the state of New York, the circuit is widely regarded as the country’s “Mecca” of road racing due its history of playing host to most major international series including Formula One; GT World Challenge America; and NASCAR. Focused on an aggressive combination of straights and sweeping corners of varying degrees of camber, the track shall deliver some of the highest average lap speeds we shall see this season meaning every mile per hour gained from corner to corner will be the key to victory for our drivers!

In the Gold class, after taking his third victory in a row at Spa-Francorchamps, Thomas Cope stands 37 points clear of the chasing pack as led by Kory Lazarus. Cope has undoubtedly earned himself early favourite status, but with many drivers including Lazarus; Paul Busby; and Igor Kos all building momentum, Cope will be under ever-increasing pressure to stay one step ahead tonight!

In the Silver class, a hard-fought win on home soil last week has resulted in Jeremy de Boever extending his lead to 30 points over Adam Greveson. Whilst de Boever continues to look strong, impressive performances from Greveson and Chris Rance last week to finish on the podium highlight their hunger for their first wins of the season. Will Greveson or Rance be able to sate their appetite for victory tonight? Or will de Boever deny them once more?

With the mid-season break looming, who shall go into the interlude on a high? Tune in and find out!

Round 3 - MotorLand Aragón

Tonight marks Round 3 of the eleventh season of UKSimRacing’s GT3 League as hosted on iRacing!

In this round we conclude the Spanish double-header with a visit to MotorLand Aragón. Recently introduced to the simulator platform, the Circuito de Alcañiz as it is also known is a relatively young circuit having opened in 2009. Designed by Hermann Tilke, the track’s 3.15 mile Grand Prix layout sees its 18 corners grouped into demandingly tight complexes which shall put our drivers’ technical ability to the test. With lap time being made or lost through each complex, who shall define the perfect racing line?

In the ELITE class, in taking his maiden victory at Jerez, Erik Røseth now leads with a nine point advantage over Rhys Saunders. Røseth is starting to emerge as an early favourite, but with Saunders’s pace on the rise and tonight’s track being a very different challenge compared to the last two rounds, will Røseth still be leading after tonight?

In the PRO class, despite a degree of difficulty last week, Aaron Macgregor has made it two wins in a row and leads by six points over Darren Sharples. With his rivals closing the pace gap rapidly, can Macgregor prove that last round was a brief wobble and make it three wins in a row? Or will we see a new name take to the top step tonight?

In the AM class, Steinar Sanni leads by result countback ahead of Jack Whyborn following his first win of the season at Jerez. Both drivers have a pair of podiums thus far, but with Whyborn still searching for his first win and so many of the class’s drivers showing race leading pace, it is anyone’s guess who shall secure victory tonight!

Who shall come away from Spain on top? Tune in and find out!
